WHERE ARE YOU REALLY FROM ZINE
"Where Are You Really From?" is a special edition digital and print zine. 23 Asian Americans submitted essays, poetry, art, and photography about what it means to be Asian American in the Midwest. I led the creative direction and production from concept to delivery.
We produced 1,000 physical editions, which were distributed across the U.S., plus an expanded digital version.
MY ROLE:
Editor-in-Chief
Assembled a panel of judges for the open call to artists
Coordinated with designers, editors, and project managers to keep publication on time and within our allotted budget
Design Assets, guidelines, and layouts were co-designed by Kara Henry & Anissa Pulcheon. They also have work featured in the zine.

Physical & DIGITAL COPIES
We decided to create a physical copy of the Zine that included a color cover with black and white inside. This was a more limited version that fit within our allotted budget. As a supplement to the printed version, we created a longer form digital version in color that includes artist bios.
LAUNCH PARTY
This zine was created as a part of AAPI Heritage Month Cincinnati programing in May 2022. As part of promotion for the Zine there was a launch party where a few key works from the Zine were featured on large format posters and other artists with poems or songs were able to read their works aloud to the public.
