Food Is Our Love Language Mural

As a founding member of AAPI Heritage Month Cincinnati (Est. 2021). I wanted there to be a public art component that celebrates Asian American culture. We partnered with an Asian American nonprofit group, the Asian American Cultural Association of Cincinnati, to make a bold statement through art to respond to the rising hate crimes against Asian Americans in the early years of the pandemic. I worked directly with the mural artist, Anissa Pulcheon, and stakeholders (Procter & Gamble, Agar) from concept to execution.

The mural, titled “Food Is Our Love Language,” is at the historic Findlay Market on the side of Saigon Market, Cincinnati’s oldest Asian market.

MY ROLE:

  • Reviewed concepts and provided feedback to Anissa, the featured muralist

  • Worked with the printers to assess timelines and any parameters needed for the vinyl material used for printing
